[180] In March 2024, witness documents released by the Superior Electoral Court were made public. According to two military officials, Bolsonaro had plotted to overturn the 2022 results and presented top military officials a plan to carry out a coup with the goal of keeping him in power.

In response to the ruling, he's lodged an updated indictment, which keeps the same four charges but argues Trump was acting as a political candidate, not a sitting president.

Others noted that this November could be different because he is surrounded by a new slate of top aides who wouldn't push him to make such a declaration.
